Cardiovascular disease is a frequent co-morbidity in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Many clinicians, particularly pulmonologists, are reluctant to use β-adrenoceptor blocking agents (β-blockers) in patients with COPD, despite their proven effectiveness in preventing cardiovascular events.
