Black History Month Posters 2021

Diversity of Scientists
For Black History Month we wish to highlight a few Black scientists from the United States of America who have made significant discoveries. This is by no means a complete list. The few examples were chosen to include male and female scientists and to represent areas of research related to Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. We also make connections between these scientists and the University of Kentucky. We hope readers will take it upon themselves to find others to add to this list of names. This list can include contributors to other scientific disciplines, as well as, other racial and ethnic groups that are underrepresented in STEM fields. These would represent examples of researchers that have gone before us, who have struggled and yet made notable contributions to scientific concepts that benefit us all.
These posters were made by staff, undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty members of the represented Departments. The HIVE of A&S also contributed to poster design. Funding for printing these posters was provided by the Office of Institutional Diversity.
