Cardno is seeking a Field Supervisor – Ecological Restoration to implement project work in the ecological restoration management fields. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the position includes the direct supervision/ coordination of field crews, implementing a high quality product, interpreting construction plans/ specifications, assists in administering Cardno’s Health and Safety culture, track project budgets, and ensuring equipment maintenance. Projects will involve field labor, technical work, and/or supervision. A typical work day consists of an 8-10 hour day although, in accordance with the requirements of specific assignments, may

include irregular hours. Position may also require overnight travel.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

> Implementing restoration project work at the ground level under the direction of regional Operations Manager and/or Project Managers

> Native planting, seeding, erosion control installation, herbicide application, prescribed fire or any other activities necessary with field implementation of ecological restoration projects

> Supervisors may be required to spend up to 1-4 nights per week out of town working at remote locations

> Adhering to corporate policies, operate through the proper management channels, and act in the best interest of firm

Basic qualifications:

 

> Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences (Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Biology, Fisheries, Forestry)- or equivalent experience

> Supervisors will be required to obtain commercial Pesticide Applicator's License

> Valid Driver's License

> Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or Red Card

> 2+ years leading field crews related to ecological restoration

> Experience operating truck/ trailer combinations (+20,000 lb GVWR)

> Experience operating equipment such as tractors, ATVs, chainsaws, and/ or skidsteers

> Ability to travel overnight for 1-4 days out of town

> Experience with herbicide handling and application

> Experience in native and invasive species plant identification and/ or restoration techniques

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

> Experience with technical report writing

> Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus

> Operating a Global Positioning System
