The Department of Biology serves nearly 1400 biology majors, the largest undergraduate major at UK.
To help navigate your way through the biology curriculum, you will find links to a description of all the current courses, requirements for majors and minors, and suggested 4-year curricula for the B.A. and B.S. degrees in Biology.
Important Spring 2017 Dates:
January 18- last day to add a class for the 2017 Spring Semester
February 1 – Last day for students to drop a course without it showing on their transcript
February 1 - Last day for students to change their grading option
February 8 – Last day for students to officially withdraw from UK or reduce course load and receive a 50% refund
March 6 – Midterm
May 5- End of 2017 Spring Semester

To Declare Biology as your Major
If you are a current Arts & Sciences student, you will need to go to 202 POT to complete the paperwork. Please bring your student ID, you will be asked to show it.
If you are a student outside the College of A&S switching majors to biology, your first step will be to go to the advising office in your current college for the necessary paperwork.
Undeclared majors will go to 109 Miller Hall and stop by the Undergraduate Studies front desk with your picture ID and tell the receptionist that you would like to declare a major. You will be asked to fill out a survey and will be given paperwork to deliver to your college of choice. For more information click here.
